Vivienne Watson
I’m a psychotherapeutic counsellor, registered with the BACP. As a queer woman with a mixed heritage background, I work in a way that looks at how the different identities you might hold can impact you.
You might be queer identifying and have that be a part of your identity that we work with. Or have that be part of the context that we work in, but not the main focus of our work together. Or, you might want your cultural background to have a strong focus in the work we do. Or perhaps it would be the case of working with both identities, as well as many more you might hold in how you see yourself.
People have their own unique experiences of discrimination and oppression and that matters to me.
I have a friendly, gentle and conscientious approach. I understand that it can be difficult to speak about very personal thoughts and feelings and I create a space that feels safe to do this. A space where you will not feel judged and are able to be yourself. To me, it’s important to have this kind of safety to help us work through what might be going on for you.
I work integratively, which means I combine different types of therapy according to what you want from your sessions. My training is in person-centred, psychodynamic and gestalt therapy.
My pronouns are she/her.
